TCF ANF

 French Proficiency Test for the French Citizenship Application

Intended audience? Candidates for the acquisition of French citizenship through marriage or naturalization. 
What is the TCF ANF? The TCF is a test that reliably ranks the candidate’s results on the European Counsel’s six-level scale (from A1 to C2).
To succeed? To pass this exam, you must receive a minimal level of B1. Obtaining a B1 or higher is one of the elements required for the French citizenship application, though it in itself does not guarantee acceptance of the application.  
When will I get the results? The results are sent through the mail after a period of 30 days.
Validity of results? The TCF results are valid for 2 years.

If I fail the test?

You can retake the exam as many times as you need, though there is a minimum wait of 30 days after the last time you took it before you can take it again.
 TCF ANF components?  

- Listening (30 minutes)

- Speaking (12 minutes)

Waiver?

The following individuals are not required to take this test:

- individuals over 60 years old- Holders of an official diploma issued in a Francophone country after having completed their studies where the language of instruction is French

- Holders of a DELF B1/B2 or a DALF

- Individuals with disabilities (justification to be presented to the Préfecture).
